Letter from Mission President

Letter from Mission President

July 15, 2009 - Letter

Received two emails because Brady’s email account from the church went down on him before he could read ours. He was finally able to get it open and then responded to us.

So I was not able to read your email this week because myldsmail logged me off in the middle of an email to Katie and will not let me sign in again. I have had enough of myldsmail not working for me so please for now on send emails to my hotmail account.

Well this has been a very cool week, the first thing you will notice is that I have photos attached to this email that is because I went and bought a “thinger” so I can send you stuff now. It was cheap, well cheap for here, it was 14 euro or however you spell it, but next week hopefully I will have it all figured out so I can send some videos to you. The first photo is of Elder Sheppard, the other one is the Blennerville Windmill by Tralee.

Well Elder Shep and I have been working really hard and a lot of things were not going so well. A good number of people we teach have been going on holidays. But because we kept going we lead the district in number of lessons taught this week,
that has not happened to me since Bangor. So that was really cool. Yesterday the most exciting thing of all happened. We went to talk to a guy named Andréa and his wife Scillia. I introduced myself to them, they don’t speak English very well cuz they are from Hungary, but he speaks fluent German as well and a little English. Scillia speaks some German and better English then Andréa. Well while we were talking, Andrea starts talking to Scillia then she says he wants to ask something after a minute, so she translates and says that he wants to join the church. He has read the Book of Mormon all through in German and the gospel principals’ book all through in Hungarian. He feels its right and wants to know what it takes to be a member. I am going to get my first baptism! He smokes and knows he has to quit but does not mind, he has been working and getting off them for awhile. The only thing that really is stopping them right now is that they both work on Sunday and they have not been to church. Scillia is not ready yet to be baptized but is working for it. Here in Firhouse the people we do teach are super good, they are all prepared but each one has one thing that holds them back its just getting pass that and they could all be baptized it’s so crazy. I asked president for a good area and I defiantly got it. and I could not ask for a better comp Sheppard is so good. Great teacher, friend, and all so I’m super happy again.

Well that has been really about it this week. Sorry it’s short but time is short again because I had to screw around with myldsmail before realizing it won’t work for me. I love you all so much, pray for Andréa, Scillia, and Paul. those are all the ones close to baptism.

much loves hugs and kisses.
Brady

So like I told Cody I am emailing again cuz I was not able to read yours the first time. I will answer a few of your questions. First the watch fits great dad got it right on the dot. I would not want it any other size smaller or bigger, so good job on that one.

I have not met your friend but I met Kate, Clark's aunt. They came to our church this Sunday. Kate told her to have an eye open for me and wouldn't you know it she showed up to church and I was there.

Brother Pratt was not my teacher but one of my good friends. He knew me and that I was a swimmer and everything. I really always wanted to be in his class but never got there. It’s sad to hear about that. Stuff like that happens here often. Most of the Stake Presidents and District Presidents have gone less active or against the church after they have been released. It’s a sad thing but it happens. I really hope everything goes better for him and his family I have met them. I will keep him in my prayers also.

Well I love you all and glad I was able to read the email. Send them from now on to hotmail. I love you all. I need to go.

Hey family and mom

So how are things going? I loved the email. Don’t worry mom I will come home from my mission soon and then you will not have an empty nest at least for the first little bit. Cuz once I get home I will be weird and so I will stay home and be weird. Also I won’t be use to being alone so I will follow you like a shadow. Well I have to say sorry I don't have loads of time because I have so many emails that I write now because my friends love me so much. Thanks for the pictures they were really nice. I hope Allie will introduce me to Miss Utah when I get home. And I love the pic of Dusty and Julie; is that going to be the engagement pic? I really like that one. Will you send a real photo of that one to put in my book? Cuz it is really nice.

Well Elder Sheppard names is Peter Craig Sheppard. From Leighton Buzzard England. He is really cool he is acting like the senior comp right now cuz it’s his area and I don’t know nothing. He is really fun and I like him a lot. The area is really good lots of good people to teach. One guy in particular we teach named Paul is very prepared his brother is a member and referred him to the missionaries. He is super prepared and we think he will be baptized very soon. I will tell you more about him next week but I don't have time now.

On the 4th I got to visit my old area of Ballyfermot it was really strange to see it in the summer cuz I was there in the fall and winter which is basically the same. I visited the people I used to teach. It was really nice. Even though it was a really hard area, I have lots of good memories there. Also this week we got to help an elder who had appendicitis. He is all better now but it was rough going for him, but it is really good to help out other elders.

Well I love you all so much, tell Doug sorry I didn't have time to write him. Next week though. I love you all so much and will see you soon.

Much love

Brady

Hey man its good to hear from you again.

Its too bad your having a bit of a rough time. I know that life can suck sometimes. Tralee has been a really rough area. Its okay because I'm now moving, and will be going to Dublin again. I'm way excited for it. Its an area called Firhouse in South Dublin. For the blog, I already know all the details, cuz I already know my comp who is really cool guy. His name is Peter Shepard, from Milton Keys England. That's the midlands not to far from London. He has been out almost a year, I think. Anyways, he is a good guy and super nice. He comes from a lot of money back home. He even had a butler.

Well, wherever you end up going I know it will be whats best for you. Just like at first, New York did not seem like the ideal place, but its what you both needed. I know its none of my business, but I kinda hope you go to New Mexico cuz I have never been there and it will be the thing to give me an excuse to go.

Well Dude, I love you. Keep busy even when you don't want to its the best way to avoid trouble. I noticed that when I was in school ha ha.

Anyways, much loves.

Birthday Letter to Bro...which was way late

Jer-

Whats up? Alright, so, I know your not that old (his card made a pretty low blow) just yet. But this was the funniest appropriate card I could find. The others here are all gross. Card shopping in Ireland is bad. But I'm sure Russia was the same, although, it was all in a Russian...I'm sure.

I don't know if I told you, but there are lot of Russians here in Ireland. I'm teaching one right now. His name is Andre. He is really cool, but he does not always keep his appointments. So, that's why I don't talk about him that much, but when we do teach him it's good.

Well Dude, I hope you had a great Birthday and did something fun. You will have to tell me about it in your next email or letter.

Much loves to you, Amy, and Ozzy

Hello Hello.

Well it’s been a slightly eventful week. Well to start off yes I have the package. Thank you so very much I love it. I have almost eaten all the candy and I have drunk my mt dew. The bottle shape looks so strange; the bottles here are all tall and skinny like me. Where at home they are short and fat. I won’t say like whom. Mom please activate my card now I have it in my hand or in my wallet.

I had my interview with president and it was good. We had a very relaxed interview, we actually chatted for awhile before any real business. He only got after me for one thing and that is my morning exercises. I told him I don’t like to do it cuz I can’t swim and I can’t dance with girls and those are the only ones I like to do. Yeah he said mission exercise was defiantly one that went in my favor. Well I told him I wanted to get away from Tralee. And there are some elders I would like to serve with. He said we will see what we can do.

Well I got my moves call. President came through with 1 out of the three but it was not too bad at all. I’m moving and I’m going back to Dublin. I’m way excited for it. I love Dublin I’m also going back to south Dublin. It’s an area called Firhouse in the Tearaneer ward-that’s not spelt right but it’s the best I could do. And my comp is Elder Peter Shepard. From Milton Keys England. I know him and he is a really good lad. To say the least I’m very excited about my moves call mainly cuz I’m in Dublin.

Yeah I herd about MJ, its too bad he died but now he is worth money so that will help him out loads. It has been interesting hearing all the different responses to it from people here. Some are happy, sad, and everything in between.

So the exercise program they are on is the same as Jer and Ames. Jer wrote to me and told me about it. I have never heard of it in all my years of watching TV. At least that I can remember I hope it goes well for them all. Is the team going to be good? What’s the look out this year? Who is supposed to be the new top team? Springville graduated everyone right or are they still number 1? I sure hope not. I hate that team.

Anyway this past week we have been really busy with lots of service. I work at a charity shop we have been doing that two times a week. Also, we have been doing helping hands and cleaning the new chapel they are getting this Sunday. I’ll never go to the new chapel cuz I move tomorrow. Crazy. It’s been fun doing service but it has made me real tired doing it all.

Well sorry this is kinda lame letter but I’m in a real rush today with packing and having to help move in the new church. But I love you all and I’m glad to hear things are going well back home. Take care much loves

Brady
